The Cape Winemakers Guild is a collection of some of the top winemakers in South Africa. Membership is by invitation only, and the membership represents the best of the best in South Africa.
Each year, members are required to produce a special wine for the annual CWG Auction. These wines must be different from their everyday production wines, and only the wines which survive a rigorous blind tasting by all members are judged good enough to be presented at the auction.
Aside from the technical aspects of wine, members of the Guild are also at the forefront of transformation in the industry via the Nedbank CWG Development Trust and the CWG Protege Programme. Members are involved in mentoring young winemakers from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and are providing opportunities that would not otherwise be available.

Episode one gives a bit of the history of the RSA wine industry and goes into depth on the great wines of Constance – which were enjoyed by Napolean, Beudelaire, Jane Austen, and others – and tastes the modern day equivalent. Cheers!
